Why an account
Safety and Security
Having some type of bank account whether it is a checking account or a savings account is absolutely necessary. This is a way to keep your money safe, and prevent the loss of money due to robbery, burglary and accidents such as a fire, tornados or a hunger dog!
When you open a checking account, you do not have to worry about carrying large amounts of cash around. You can write out checks, use a check or debit card given to you from your bank. This is a lot safer than having cash on you, or storing your cash in your home or with friends and family. The decreased risk of losing your money certainly makes having a checking account worth it.
Saving Your Hard Earned Money
Having a bank account is also necessary if you have to deposit checks such as tax refund checks or payroll checks. Not having a checking account means that you could have to pay a fee to cash your checks at check cashing places. Some places charge a fee and some even charge a percentage of up to 3 to 5 percent of the check amount!
Paying those Bills
A checking account will make paying bills easier. Many of your payments such as a credit card, utility bill, water or cable bill and even car or house payments can be paid directly from your checking account. This is faster and safer than traveling to the post office to mail in your bills. It saves time and money and can be done online care of your banks website or from the website of the bill you are paying. Not to mention you don’t have to remember to write out a check and mail it every month. It can be automatically done for you!
